Call for Participation

The virtual Illinois Computer Science Summer Teaching Workshop brings together college instructors engaged with teaching computer science to discuss best practices, challenge the status quo, propose new directions, and present surprising or preliminary results. Since it began in 2020, the workshop has been a welcoming venue with over 100 participants each year and has accepted most proposals. There is no registration or attendance fee for this free online workshop.

We invite 300-500 word abstract submissions for 10-minute presentations with a 5-minute Q&A (15 minutes total) on work, both new and old, in all areas of CS education. While all works are welcome, this year we will be organizing talks in four sessions loosely themed around:

  • Artificial Intelligence in Teaching
  • Mentoring
  • Pedagogy Tools
  • Unique Courses and Curricula

People from all experience levels (i.e., educators, students, researchers, postdocs) are welcome to submit.

Important Deadlines

  • Abstract Submission Deadline: April 14
  • Notification Deadline: Early May
  • Workshop: virtually (online only through Zoom) on June 2-3, 2025
